Today is our Pajamas Day. It's a day where we stay in our PJs and relax around the house. It used to be pretty frequent when Ava was a small baby. It is pretty rare now that my calendar is always full or Ava is always dragging me outside to play so I'm usually up and ready in the mornings. It has been so hectic lately and Ava seems to need a low-key day. She's acting pretty quiet, cuddly, clingy with her stuffed corduroy cat (her lovey), sweet, and cooperative - and she's not clamoring to go outside. It's weird, really. I can hardly blame her because in the last two weeks, her routine was disrupted. We traveled to another city and back in one day, causing her to sleep in the car without her cat which we forgot and she was NOT happy about that. The next day, friends (with a baby) came to stay with us for a few days and she slept in our room in a pack-n-play. After a few days of visiting, our friends left and we left the same day - Ava to her grandparents in VA and Greg and I to a conference for a week. On our way home from the conference, we picked Ava up and came home just in time for her bedtime. The next day, Ava had a birthday party to attend and the following day, we went to our Sunday morning meeting as usual. In all this, her mommy was sick with a sinus infection, Greg changed jobs, and the water pressure was nil in our circa-1950s duplex apartment which is prone to plumbing problems. Well, those problems didn't concern Ava in the least but I'm just saying.
So, wouldn't you say a Pajamas Day is in order after all these crazy times in the last two weeks? All our Pajamas Days in the past were mostly for my sake but today is definitely for Ava's sake.
Ava is showing signs of readiness for toilet training. She'll be 20 months next Saturday so toilet training isn't all that far off. 2 years old is usually the age when kids potty train and transition from the crib to the bed. As you know, our current plan is to head overseas and we will be going to training in VA for two months right after Ava's second birthday. I'm going to have to potty train her and transition her to a bed before her birthday in April because I'd rather not deal with all that while at training - it's just not that feasible in my mind.
Potty training. It's hard to believe my baby's growing up.
