Another New Chore

Ava now has a new chore which she likes doing but I am sure the novelty will wear off and she will whine about doing this chore:

She sets the table now - just the placemats and forks so far. Our dinnerware are breakable so we haven't entrusted plates and bowls to her yet. You can see that the placemats and forks aren't lined up neatly but still so lovely in my eyes. She's a great helper and loves to help. If she offers to help and I don't immediately accept or have to turn her down, she drops her chin to her chest, jut out her bottom lip and burst into tears. Then she'll go find a corner or face the wall and sob. It's not a tantrum; her feelings get hurt.

Ava is now going to preschool three full days, instead of just three mornings. She doesn't nap there, but she does rest. Amazingly enough, she comes home from preschool perfectly happy, docile, and sweet. She's normally cranky if she skips a nap. It may be that she's getting old enough that missed naps (and resting instead) don't hurt her too much. Her teacher tells me that she is starting to repeat Turkish words after her so she's picking it up slowly and surely. She seems to understand some commands in Turkish, also.

Ava is a singing diva. She has about 4 songs in her repertoire, ha! She's also really fun to carry conversations with. Her sentences are getting more and more complete. She has random times when she snuggles and gets really chatty. She is usually always chatty when we put her to bed (a ploy to put off bedtime?) and tells about her day and whatever random subject she picks. So, we have fun times carrying a conversation with her but on the flip side, she can talk incessantly at all the wrong times. She's also good at wheedling in such an endearing way that it's hard to say no. She cocks her head to one side and then the other while asking, "Can I have some candy, pleeease?" in a sweet, polite, appealing way. That girl knows how to play your heart strings.

I'm going to try hard and remember some of the funny things she says so I can post them here. I always hear something funny from her and think it's blog-worthy but can never remember later. Hopefully, the next post will have some of her sayings...
